With 2017 well under way for Tech Startups in Uganda, another Innovation Wekebere – a handheld self diagnostic device that monitors conditions of an unborn baby is set to represent Uganda at the Annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
An innovation by Tashobya Stephen & friends that was recognized with the Young ICT Visionaries 2016 Award at the annual ACIA Awards was selected by Uganda Commutations Commission to represent the country and will be exhibiting under their booth

Wekebere is able to tell the conditions of an unborn baby by monitoring the four vital parameters and that’s; fetal heart rate, temperature of the mother, high blood pressure and uterine contractions.
The Innovation was recently named among the Top 15 young enterprises in Africa by Regional University Forum (RUFORUM). The event was held in South Africa form the 17th to 21st OF October 2016.
The team at Wekebere is composed of Kalemela John Kennedy, Uwimana Aline & Namyalo Sandra who act as the Finance, Product Design Manager and Business Development Officer respectively while Tashobya leads the entire Software and Hardware development of Wekebere.
Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry, organised by the GSMA and held in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona from the 27 February – 2 March 2017
